Tucson police officer dead after vehicle collision

A Tucson police officer was killed in a car crash while responding to a service call, authorities said Monday.

The crash occurred around 10 p.m. Sunday at an intersection near the University of Arizona campus, and the officer was taken to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, authorities said.

His name was not immediately released.

“The officer was on duty responding to a call when he was involved in a collision,” police officials said in an online post.
