Turning Point Action Supports Ken Paxton in Texas Senate Election

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has secured an endorsement from Turning Point Action, the political branch of the conservative youth group established by the late Charlie Kirk, ahead of the upcoming Republican U.S. Senate primary in Texas.

This endorsement arrives as Paxton navigates a competitive three-way primary against incumbent Sen. John Cornyn and Rep. Wesley Hunt. Current polling indicates a dynamic race with Paxton either in the lead or narrowly ahead of his challengers, depending on the specific poll.

“Breaking News: We are honored to have the support of Turning Point Action. The movement Charlie Kirk built has inspired millions, and I’m proud to work with Turning Point Action to continue the fight to save this country and protect our freedoms,” he stated on social media after the announcement.

Recent polling conducted from January 20 to 31 shows Mr. Paxton with a 7-point lead over Mr. Cornyn, garnering 38% of likely Republican primary voters’ support. Cornyn received 31%, while Hunt attracted 17%. Notably, Paxton holds the highest favorability rating among Republican voters at 72%, with Hunt close behind at 70%. Cornyn, on the other hand, has the lowest favorability at 61%.

In a separate poll by JL Partners conducted between January 31 and February 2, the race appeared more competitive. Paxton led with 27%, followed closely by Hunt at 25.7% and Cornyn at 25.5%. Significantly, almost 22% of voters remain undecided. If no candidate achieves a majority in the primary on March 3, the top two candidates will proceed to a runoff on May 26.

Mr. Cornyn has been a consistent figure backed by the Republican establishment, yet his support seems to be waning despite substantial financial contributions. Paxton has highlighted this shift in polling, claiming, “According to major independent polls, I’m ahead of Mr. Cornyn in the primary and in the general election,” and accused the senator of overlooking crucial issues that resonate with many constituents.
