Turning Point USA’s Tour Heads to North Dakota
Turning Point USA (TPUSA) is making its way to North Dakota with its “This is the Turning Point” tour. Dalton Nelson, the Midwest regional manager for the organization, shared insights about upcoming events at the University of North Dakota.
This national tour has been creating buzz on college campuses lately, particularly following the tragic assassination of TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk during an event at Utah Valley University on September 10th.
Nelson anticipates a large turnout for the event, stating, “The community is excited. I’ve been getting a lot of inquiries on social media about tickets and the event itself.”
He noted that support from both the campus and community has been enthusiastic. “People seem to really rally around us, making for a positive atmosphere on campus,” he said. While he expressed no specific worries, safety measures will nonetheless be implemented.
“Local officers have been offered for support. The school will have its staff present, including parking assistance, since we expect a big crowd,” he explained. “Turning Point has security measures in place for these events, so from a safety perspective, things are looking promising.”
Nelson highlighted the warm and conservative nature of North Dakota, adding, “People adore Turning Point; they loved Charlie. I’m not concerned about safety, nor are my students.” He believes that excitement is palpable. “We’re thrilled to host this event, especially for those attending with good intentions,” he remarked.
He also noticed a rise in TPUSA participation among students in North Dakota. “Historically, these schools have been highly conservative, but now there’s a noticeable shift. Students see Charlie’s image and feel a connection. Previously, they might have walked past without engaging, but now they want to participate and discuss their conservative views,” he noted.
Nelson emphasized that the atmosphere has changed significantly. “Those who once felt hesitant to engage now desire to share their thoughts and stand up for what they believe in,” he added.
Looking ahead, he believes that students across the nation are becoming braver in expressing their beliefs. “I think this movement is about to gain incredible momentum. Five years from now, college campuses may very well be some of the most conservative environments in the U.S.,” he predicted.
The upcoming event is scheduled for Thursday, October 9th at 6:30 PM Central Time.
