Twenty-five stolen vehicles, $300,000 in cash, and firearms

Police in Los Angeles arrested five individuals in Corona on startling charges related to operating a multi-million dollar cargo theft ring on Wednesday.

The investigation, which has been ongoing for some time, primarily focused on thefts involving large rig trucks and shipping container cargo.

Authorities executed a search warrant on the suspects and uncovered a staggering quantity of stolen goods.

In total, around $5 million worth of items obtained illegally were seized, according to police reports.

Law enforcement seized 84 stolen container chassis, 11 tractors, 25 vehicles, six all-terrain vehicles, and two large forklifts believed to have fraudulent identification numbers.

Additionally, over $300,000 in cash, three firearms, and numerous digital devices were confiscated.

A variety of luxury and sports cars were also displayed in photographs released by the police, showcasing the extent of the operation.

The LAPD’s Commercial Crimes Division Cargo Theft Task Force collaborated with the Los Angeles Port Police, the California Department of Justice’s Tax Recovery in Underground Economy Program (TRUE), and the California Department of Surface Transportation Investigation Division for this investigation.

Officials stated, “This combined enforcement effort has led to the recovery of assets valued at more than $5 million.” They hinted that the investigation is ongoing and that more arrests could occur.

The five arrested individuals have since been released and are set to appear in court next month.

They face felony charges of grand theft.

Those identified by the Los Angeles Police Department as the arrested individuals include:

  • Jose Del Toro Sr., 43, of Corona.
  • Maria Ramos, 42, from Corona.
  • Marissa Del Toro, 25, of Corona.
  • Jose Del Toro Jr., 23, of Corona.
  • Yailet Jimenez, 23, from Corona.

An attorney for the defendants was not reachable for comment.
