Actor Owain Rhys-Davies Passes Away at 44
Owain Rhys-Davies, who gained recognition for his performances in “Twin Peaks: The Return” and “The OA,” has sadly passed away at the age of 44.
His brother, Rhodri Davis, shared the heartbreaking news in an emotional Instagram post, stating, “It is with deep sadness that my father and I share the news of the passing of my brother Owain.” The suddenness of the news left them in shock, as he noted, “there remain unanswered questions regarding the circumstances of his death.” Despite this, the family believes that “Owain passed away suddenly, naturally, and peacefully.”
The family expressed their gratitude for the outpouring of support and condolences they received, reflecting on the profound impact Owain had on many lives. They praised his “love, friendship, and generosity,” acknowledging that he formed deep familial bonds beyond his biological family.
“I am so proud that he was my brother, but also a brother to so many,” said Rhodri. He recognized that this loss is felt broadly and took comfort in knowing how much Owain was loved. Rhodri indicated that more information regarding funeral arrangements would be shared later, and he requested privacy during this difficult time.
Owain, born on February 20, 1982, in Cardiff, Wales, is perhaps best known for playing Agent Wilson in the resurgence of “Twin Peaks” and as part of the cast in “The OA.” He also acted in projects like Disney’s “Through the Looking Glass,” “The Indian Doctor,” “My Dead Ex,” and “A Serial Killer’s Guide to Life.”
His theater career flourished in London’s West End, where he was featured in productions like “Mamma Mia!,” “The Wizard of Oz,” “By Jeeves,” and “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” at the Royal National Theatre.
Recently, he completed filming two projects, “Jeff the Killer” and “La Fantasia,” both currently in post-production. In some of his latest Instagram posts, Owain expressed his passion for the acclaimed play “The Opera Singer.”
He is survived by his brother Rodri and father Conway, while his mother passed away in May 2021.
