Authorities reported the arrest of a suspect linked to a theft estimated at around $60,000.
Armean Shirehjini has been identified as a well-dressed wedding crasher, caught on security footage stealing a box filled with cash and checks from the dance floor at a Renaissance Banquet in Glendale, California.
It seems he simply stumbled upon the wedding and decided to crash it.
A bride, visibly shaken, shared her experience, saying, “I sat on the dance floor and sobbed with my friends and cousins,” during an interview.
Shirehjini is alleged to have blended in with the guests at a wedding attended by 300, dressed in a black shirt and shoes. After the theft, he reportedly jumped into a black SUV, which was driven by Andranik Avetician, also arrested for his role in the incident.
Eventually, investigators tracked down the duo at Shirehjini’s residence, where they recovered a large number of checks along with a significant amount of cash.
According to Sergeant Jose Barraja from the Glendale Police Station, “Obviously, this guy was a big hit.” The total amount recovered included about $60,000 and 26 checks, with around $10,000 in cash.
Authorities also discovered a stash of drugs and firearms at their homes.
Interestingly, both individuals have prior criminal records, and police speculate this was an opportunistic theft.
Barraja noted that “there are many banquet halls and weddings in Glendale every weekend, so I believe this was a random choice for them.”
The theft took place shortly after midnight on August 30th.
The couple expressed their intention to move past the incident and embrace their new life together.
George Farrahatt remarked, “We had a great ceremony at the church, a really fun party with family and friends, and even celebrated the incident.” He emphasized that they are focusing on the joyful moments and the important fact that they’ve just tied the knot.
