Two men were arrested on suspicion of selling the drugs that caused the incident. 19-year-old TikTok star Cooper Noriega dies of overdoseaccording to the report.
Noriega’s body was found in a shopping mall parking lot near Los Angeles in June 2022, and the cause of death was determined to be the effects of fentanyl, alprazolam (commonly known as Xanax), and the sedative lorazepam.
Officials also cited “recent clonazepam (Klonopin) use” as another “significant” symptom.
Eric Obed Estrada, of Calabasas, California, was indicted on federal drug charges after he was accused of running a drug trafficking operation that provided cocaine and fentanyl-laced pills from his home. TMZ reported.
He is accused of selling fentanyl-laced pills to Arian Alani, who is also accused of selling the pills to Noriega, the newspaper said.
According to a report from TMZ, prosecutors say Alani texted Estrada, referring to CN (Noriega’s father admitted to being Copper), saying, “My son just died yesterday.” He sent a message and claimed Estrada told him he “shouldn’t be selling (expletive) on fentanyl.”
Estrada and Alani are both charged with one count each of distribution of fentanyl resulting in death, according to the report.
“Our family is very pleased that those responsible for the death of our beautiful son will be held accountable,” Noriega’s father, Harold, said in a statement.
The social media star, who boasts 1.7 million followers on the video-sharing app, opened up to her followers about her history of substance abuse, which began when she was just nine years old.
“So we’re talking about Xanax, Adderall, marijuana, nicotine,” Noriego told podcast host Dave Portnoy, to which Portnoy responded: [years old], that’s crazy. She didn’t even know she was playing GI Joe when she was 9 years old. ”
He died just hours after posting a horrifying video saying he was “dying young.”
Noriega also confirmed that he recently broke up with fellow TikToker Sabrina Quesada, whom he dated for about two years.
His mother, Treva Noriega, expressed hope that her late son was “finally experiencing the purest joy and happiness.”
“See you someday, my baby…your mom,” she wrote.
