German railways have been thrown into significant turmoil as truck bottlenecks have persisted for a second day, with the late left-wing group being accused of initiating a strike against the industrial economy.
Countless international, urban, and regional trains faced disruptions, and a fire in a cable trough beside the mainline on Thursday hampered tens of thousands of passengers and freight operations, halting essential signaling and safety systems. Deutsche Bahn, the national railway company, reported serious damage, indicating that repairs to the 60-meter (approximately 65-yard) cable would take until the following day. However, another fire was detected on a different cable on Friday, further delaying repairs into the weekend.
The fire occurred on the “Rurgh Axis” highway line, linking Dusseldorf and Dusseldorf International Airport in North Rhine-Westphalia. Disruptions also impacted local and high-speed intercity routes connecting major cities across Germany and the Netherlands.
Authorities are looking into possible sabotage, and NRW Home Minister Herbert Luhl commented during a press conference:
While police remain cautious about confirming any malicious intent, a letter claiming responsibility for the fire was shared on the controversial left extremist forum “Indymedia,” credited to a group calling themselves “Kommando Angry Birds.” This group stated their intention to “switch the destruction system,” emphasizing their belief in creating a bottleneck in the industrial economy.
The group contends that the disruptions will have direct repercussions on the economy, delaying and rerouting essential trains.
Indymedia has hosted multiple messages from the Kommando group, which has long acknowledged its history of rail sabotage. Their communications reveal a perspective that rejects economic growth and resource extraction. One of their previous letters laid out a viewpoint that criticized former minister Robert Habeck for overseeing the shutdown of Germany’s nuclear plants, arguing for a complete dismantling of modern industrial society.
The group decries traditional leftist politics for attempting to harness technology developed by capitalists, while they advocate for a radical approach that negates technology entirely, depicting it as something that perpetuates societal machinery.
In one of their missives, they articulated:
The current societal model is consuming the planet, converting natural ecosystems into lifeless commodities… This is a fundamental flaw in the system, as none of the proposed alternatives—renewable energy, green capitalism, or any spiritual “transformation”—address the real issue. The ultimate solution requires dismantling our technological infrastructure. Actions against transport, communication, and energy systems are critical in this struggle.
While rail travel is seen as an eco-friendly alternative, the group acknowledges criticism about their attacks, noting the reality of metalling, plastics, and other materials that uphold modern industrial society. They argue that infrastructure, including power lines and telecommunications, should be deemed equivalent targets in their campaign to destabilize modern existence.
This week’s incident, along with several other attacks across Europe, forms part of a broader pattern of extremism aimed at destabilizing systems that support contemporary life, often overlooked or underreported by mainstream media.
Such attacks have been tracked by Breitbart News for years. A previous incident in Germany involved a sabotage that left vital communication lines severed, impacting train operations significantly, highlighting the vulnerabilities within infrastructure.
These targeted assaults are designed to erode public confidence in the systems that underpin everyday life. Recent years have seen similar disruptions across various European networks, from attacks on rail infrastructure to coordinated strikes on telecommunications and power supplies. The motives often intertwine with broader ideological battles against persistent technological advancements.
