The Texas State Police Two Bodies The body found inside the trailer was in an advanced state of decomposition and looked like a mummified body.
Houston police said officers received a call about a body and discovered the body inside a trailer parked on Millwee Street near Bollin Road.
“When you jump in there, it’s like quicksand. You sink.”
Lt. R. Wilkens said someone overheard two homeless people discussing the body at a nearby convenience store and called police about the allegations.
Clothing and other items donated to Purple Heart Charities are stored in trailers, and when emergency personnel arrived to investigate, they found a suspicious hole in one of the trailers.
“You can see a hole at the top of the truck, it looks like a cut-out hole, and a fire department officer got up there with a ladder and looked in the hole and could see that there were indeed two bodies there,” Wilkens said.
Police also said investigators found evidence that the couple had been living inside the trailer. Police said it was unclear how long the bodies had been inside the trailer, but described them as “mummified.”
KTRK-TV spoke with Howard Penright, an employee at the donation center, who said cutting into the trailers has been an ongoing problem.
“Oh man, this is just unbelievable,” he said of the incident. “This is going to be a tough day.”
Penright explained that he could sink under the pile of clothes in the trailer: “When you jump in there, it’s like quicksand. You sink and you probably can’t say anything. That’s why you probably didn’t hear anybody.”
Police said the matter is still under investigation and the coroner will determine the cause of both men’s deaths.
