Two boys charged with murder of Darrian Williams, 16, in Bristol park | UK news

Two 15-year-old boys have been charged with the murder of 16-year-old Darian Williams, who was stabbed to death in a Bristol park, police said.

Darian was killed in the attack on Wednesday at Rawnsley Park in the city’s Easton area. The suspects were also charged with possessing a knife in a public place and remain in police custody and are due to appear at Bristol Youth Court on Monday.

Avon and Somerset Police released a statement on Sunday: “We have charged two teenage boys with the murder of 16-year-old Darian Williams.

“Darian sadly passed away after being attacked in Rawnsley Park in the Easton area of ​​Bristol on Wednesday.

“The Major Crime Team is leading the investigation into his death and the Crown Prosecution Service tonight approved murder charges against the two 15-year-old boys after considering the evidence collated.

“The boys have each also been charged with possessing a knife in a public place and remain in police custody and will appear at Bristol Youth Court.” [on Monday].

“Darian’s family is aware of this and a dedicated family liaison officer continues to provide support.”

At 6pm on Wednesday, police were called to West Street, Old Market, where Darian had taken refuge after the assault. He died at the scene.

Officers met with principals on Friday to discuss police support before pupils return from half-term, and police have announced that officers will carry out extra patrols outside schools next week.

DI Neil Mead said: “Our thoughts are with Darian’s family tonight in response to this situation.

“We continue to devote significant resources to the investigation and will continue to provide full information as the investigation progresses.”

He added: “Knife crime takes lives and we are working with our partners and communities to prevent tragic incidents like this from happening and educate young people about the consequences of knife possession. “We are fully committed to doing everything we can,” he added. ”
