Shooting Incident at Israeli Embassy Staff Event in Washington
On Wednesday evening, two staff members from the Israeli Embassy in Washington were shot and killed near the Jewish Museum. This information was confirmed by Homeland Security Secretary Christie Noem.
Noem disclosed the tragic news after the incident was captured on video outside the Capital Jewish Museum, which is situated away from the local FBI field office.
Attorney General Pam Bondy reported being present at the scene alongside former judge Janine Pillo, who holds a position as a US lawyer in Washington.
A representative from the Israeli Embassy indicated that the victims were shot at close range while attending a Jewish event at the museum.
“We trust local and federal law enforcement to apprehend the shooters and ensure the safety of Israeli representatives and Jewish communities throughout the United States,” she stated.
FBI Director Kash Patel mentioned that his team was briefed on the shooting. He expressed, “While we’re collaborating with the Metropolitan Police Department, we pray for the victims and their families as we seek further details,” in a post on X.
The Israeli ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, condemned the shooting as “a decisive act of anti-Semitic terrorism.”
As for the police, they have not disclosed any information about the possible motives behind the shooting as of late Wednesday night. A press conference was anticipated shortly.
“We are confident that US authorities will take strong action against those responsible for this criminal activity,” Danon added in another post on X.
This is a developing story.
