National Guard Troops Scheduled to Arrive in Portland

Border czar Tom Homan made an appearance on “Saturday in America” to talk about various topics, including border security, ongoing operations against drug trafficking vessels, and the National Guard’s upcoming deployment to Portland.

On Thursday afternoon, the city of Portland, Oregon, reported injuries related to a shooting incident involving federal agents. Portland Police Bureau (PPB) officers responded to a shooting alert around 2:18 p.m. local time and confirmed that federal agents were present.

Just minutes later, at 2:24 p.m., police were informed that a man who had been shot was seeking aid near Northeast 146th Street and East Burnside. Officers arrived on the scene and discovered a man and a woman with apparent gunshot wounds, according to city officials.

Both individuals were taken to a hospital, though their conditions remain unclear. Authorities reported that both locations were secured by the PPB as they start an investigation.

Sources indicate the federal agents involved were from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). No arrests have been reported at this time.

PPB Director Bob Day stated, “This case is still in its early stages. We recognize that many are feeling emotional and tense following the recent shooting in Minneapolis, but we urge the community to maintain calm as we gather more details.”

City officials clarified that PPB officers did not play a role in the incident and are not involved in immigration enforcement. Images captured at the location showed FBI agents present.

In response to the shooting, Senator Ron Wyden expressed concerns over the actions of federal law enforcement in Portland, suggesting that the Trump administration’s measures are provoking violence. He stated, “I’m following the initial damning reports that two people were shot and killed by federal law enforcement in Portland. I will keep you updated, but the deployment of federal agents to my hometown is clearly inciting violence and must end.”

This situation is still developing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
