Two trains collide in Wales near Llanbrynmair on Shrewsbury service | Wales

Emergency services are called after two trains collided in Wales, police said.

The incident happened around 7.30pm on Monday near Llumbringmere, between Shrewsbury and Machinless.

It is not yet known whether anyone was injured.

A British Transport Police spokesperson said officers were called to the line near Lambrynmere following reports of a “low-speed train collision involving two trains”.

“Paramedics, Fire and Rescue Service and Dafed Powys Police are all in attendance and the incident is ongoing.”

A joint statement from Network Rail and Transport for Wales said the incident affected the 6.31pm service from Shrewsbury to Aberystwyth and the 7.09pm service from Machineless to Shrewsbury. It is said that they are related.

JNR said the “operational incident” could result in line closures and train cancellations or changes.

Erned Morgan, the first minister of Wales, wrote of X:

“We would like to thank the emergency services for their response and asked them to keep us informed of any developments overnight.”
