Two United Airlines passengers injured after plane to San Francisco tried to avoid collision

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has launched an investigation after two United Airlines passengers were injured last week when a pilot responded to an in-flight alarm.

The FAA said United Airlines Flight 2428, originating from New Jersey, was descending into San Francisco International Airport on Thursday when the pilot was notified “of another aircraft in the vicinity.”

A United Airlines spokesman told The Hill that despite the seatbelt signs being on, the plane was “slowing its descent due to the presence of another aircraft at low altitude.”

“Two passengers, including one who was not in his seat at the time, reported possible injuries and were transported to the hospital,” United Airlines said in a statement.

The FAA reported that the plane landed safely in San Francisco.

United Airlines said it “thanks our flight attendants for their dedication to keeping our employees and customers safe.”

There was no further information on the passengers' conditions.
