Cobb Discusses Bondy’s Role Amid Epstein Controversy
Ty Cobb, a former White House attorney, remarked on Friday that the Trump administration would experience significant embarrassment if Attorney General Pam Bondy faced dismissal in connection with the Jeffrey Epstein file situation.
“If he appointed someone and they ended up being let go from a senior role, it would reflect poorly on him,” Cobb noted, suggesting that the potential firing of Bondy and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegses might lead to public humiliation for Trump.
He continued, explaining that if Trump merely let go of lower-ranking officials, it would not seem as consequential. “In his view, unless it’s the top position, it’s not a serious indictment of him,” Cobb stated, referencing the frustrations expressed by some officials, including FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino, about current judicial matters.
Bondy has recently found herself under heavy scrutiny for her handling of documents related to Epstein’s case, which has drawn criticism from party members regarding her commitment to transparency.
The White House, however, maintains that reports of internal strife are exaggerated.
This year, Bondy reportedly handed out a binder labeled “Epstein File Phase I” to various prominent conservative figures, which purportedly included disturbing details about the exploitation of over 250 minor girls in New York and Florida.
Nevertheless, no new information emerged from the binder, leading to considerable speculation and conspiracy theories about Epstein’s death in media circles.
This past week, both the Justice Department and the FBI shared a memo asserting there was no evidence of foul play in Epstein’s death or any existing “client list,” a statement that stirred unrest among some, including Bongino, who had previously supported conspiracy theories surrounding Epstein.
On Friday, several media outlets reported that various officials were contemplating resignations amidst this turmoil. Still, Cobb firmly asserted that Bondy would remain in her position despite the current disagreements.
“You’ll see Bongino come back, perhaps reflecting on a rough day,” he added, implying that the tension might soon lessen. Meanwhile, commentators like Megyn Kelly and Tucker Carlson have voiced concerns, with Carlson alleging that the Justice Department is, in essence, “hiding serious crimes.”
