NASCAR Tensions at the All-Star Race
During the All-Star Race Festival at North Wilkesboro Speedway on Sunday night, NASCAR Cup Series drivers Ty Dillon and Zane Smith found themselves at odds, which stirred up quite a bit of tension.
Dillon placed third in the All-Star Open, just ahead of Smith, who finished in sixth. However, neither of them made it to the final All-Star race, as Carson Josevar and John Hunter Nemechek secured the top two spots.
Dillon expressed concerns about Smith’s driving, suggesting it had repercussions for both of them in the final race. After the event, he mentioned, “I gave him plenty of space when I got off (turn) 4, and he drove right into me. It seems like the newer drivers might not fully grasp the consequences.” In a somewhat aggressive tone, he added, “If he takes me out again, I’ll retaliate.”
Smith, for his part, didn’t hold back either. He vented his frustration on social media following the incident, stating bluntly, “No one hits me—” which clearly indicates his take on the events that unfolded.
Looking ahead, the next race in the NASCAR Cup Series is the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, which is one everyone is looking forward to. Fans and analysts alike are curious to see if there will be any fallout or retaliation between Dillon and Smith. Currently, Smith holds a higher ranking in points, sitting at 22nd, while Dillon is further back in 30th.
In a lighter note, Christopher Bell emerged victorious in the All-Star Race, earning a $1 million prize and further excitement in the NASCAR community.
