Tyler Herro’s Unexpected Trade to the Bucks

Tyler Herro, the new guard for the Milwaukee Bucks, received shocking news while he was in Paris: he was being traded. This announcement caught him off guard, especially since it involved a significant player swap that sent Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat.

In a video shared on his blog, Herro expressed his disbelief with the statement, “Back in the king’s crib, dog. You have all lost your mind.” It was clear that the trade was more than just a business move to him—it felt personal.

As he processed the news, he couldn’t help but smile and started humming along to Thin Lizzy’s “The Boys Are Back in Town.” His excitement was infectious, with others in the car joining in, singing Schuyler Gray’s “I’m Coming Home,” all while anticipating his return to his home state of Wisconsin.

Herro mentioned, “I’m not going to go home to prove everyone wrong.” Instead, he highlighted his eagerness to represent the city and state. It’s something he’s wanted to do ever since he completed high school.

A bit of background: Herro attended Whitnall High School in Greenfield, Wisconsin, where he scored over 2,000 points, was named Wisconsin Gatorade Player of the Year, and earned first-team All-State honors. Although he was a four-star recruit and the top player in Wisconsin, he opted to play college basketball at Kentucky under John Calipari rather than stay local.

Interestingly, his trade came soon after a physical altercation with former teammate Bam Adebayo in Las Vegas. Reports indicate that things escalated after Adebayo confronted Herro about some critical comments he had made on social media regarding Adebayo and Antetokounmpo. Ultimately, the situation became physical, with Adebayo reportedly punching Herro in the face before others intervened.

Reflecting on his future, Herro told ESPN, “Honestly, I’m just trying to get through everything. I’m focused on Milwaukee and building something special.” He acknowledged the enormity of the recent trade involving “the greatest player in history” and expressed his desire to help the Bucks maintain their success.

The trade itself involved Antetokounmpo and another player, Bobby Portis, heading to Miami in exchange for Herro, Kelel Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Yakutsionis, and numerous draft picks. Meanwhile, Miami is still waiting to see if LeBron James will make a return to the team this season.
