FBI Reveals Disturbing Details in Charlie Kirk Shooting Investigation
On Monday, FBI Director Kash Patel disclosed a troubling text message from Tyler Robinson, who is suspected of attempting to assassinate Charlie Kirk. Patel mentioned this during an interview on Fox News.
Patel said, “There’s been evidence indicating that Robinson had a clear opportunity to attack Charlie Kirk, and he was planning on doing just that.” He emphasized that Robinson’s communications suggested he was deeply motivated by hatred.
Robinson, who is 22 years old, stands accused of shooting at Kirk from a rooftop while Kirk was speaking at an event attended by a large crowd at Utah Valley University.
In addition to the text message, Patel noted that interviews with witnesses revealed Robinson “essentially admitted” to targeting Kirk after the shooting incident on September 10.
Although Patel provided some insights into the investigation, he was careful not to disclose all the details. He confirmed that the FBI is scrutinizing if there’s a broader conspiracy at play.
“We’re currently analyzing all connections made by suspects in custody, including phone calls and texts on social media,” Patel explained. He mentioned that the investigation is thorough, with efforts to gather evidence from platforms like Discord.
“We have seized various electronic devices from both the suspect and his partner, including a computer, a laptop, a gaming console, and a mobile phone,” he elaborated.
Attorney General Pam Bondy, also appearing on the program, commended the FBI’s rapid response and collaboration with local law enforcement. She highlighted the effective teamwork, saying that DNA from the firearm used matched that of the suspect.
Bondy indicated that Utah prosecutors are aiming to bring first-degree murder charges against Robinson, potentially as soon as this week. She expressed her hope for the death penalty to be pursued in this case, noting that this is a feasible option in Utah, where firing squads are also permissible for executions.
“We will also assess if any federal charges should be brought,” she added, assuring that they will work together to ensure justice is served. Robinson is set to make his first court appearance on Tuesday afternoon.
