Tyler Megill, making his second appearance this spring, pitched three scoreless innings in relief in the Mets’ 2-1 loss to the Astros in West Palm Beach.
The right-hander, who is competing for a spot in the rotation, struck out four and allowed two hits against a lineup that included Jose Altuve, Yordan Alvarez, Alex Bregman, Kyle Tucker and Jose Abreu.

In the second inning, Brett Batty got a good start with a diving glove on Tucker’s line drive.
Batty was solid defensively in his first week, but only hit 1-for-10 (.100) at bat.
