Tyreek Hill Injured During Monday Night Game
Tyreek Hill, the Miami Dolphins wide receiver, suffered a serious injury on Monday night and underwent surgery the following day.
During the third quarter, he awkwardly fell when his left foot got caught near the sideline, prompting him to be carted off the field. The replay showed his leg bending in a way that instantly raised concern.
Head coach Mike McDaniel confirmed Hill dislocated his knee, but later reports indicated that he had torn multiple ligaments, including his ACL.
Medical staff from both teams were quick to respond, with Hill appearing somewhat in disbelief as he was transported away while the crowd cheered for their team. Just the week before, he seemed to be hitting his stride this season after a somewhat disappointing previous year where he gained only 959 receiving yards. Coming into this game, he had made 15 receptions for 198 yards and, at the time of his injury, he was performing well with six catches for 67 yards. Shortly afterward, he was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
This unfortunate incident marks a significant blow for the Dolphins, as Hill had been key to their offensive strategy. In the absence of their star receiver, teammates like Jalen Waddle, Malik Washington, and Darren Waller needed to step up. Waller certainly rose to the occasion by scoring two touchdowns, helping Miami secure a 27-21 victory over the New York Jets.
With Hill’s season effectively over, the focus shifts to how the Dolphins will adjust going forward. His contract runs through the end of the 2027 season, but for now, the team has to regroup after this first win of the season, while the Jets find themselves struggling at 0-4.
