Actor’s Arrest Warrant Issued Following Dog Attack
Authorities in Georgia reported that Tillise Gibson failed to surrender after an arrest warrant was issued due to an incident involving the attack and death of a neighbor’s dog in mid-September. This was confirmed by police on Tuesday.
Fulton County Police Captain Nicole Dwyer stated that the warrant stemmed from ongoing concerns, citing multiple complaints regarding dogs over the preceding months. “Our priority is community safety. When it comes to large dogs, we take these matters very seriously,” Dwyer expressed. “People like that can be dangerous, so we want to safely handle the situation.”
Before the warrant was issued, Gibson had received several warnings. Police attempted to contact him prior to the incident, but he was absent from his Atlanta residence. Dwyer mentioned that she spoke with Gibson’s attorney last week, who informed her that Gibson needed to turn himself in by Friday.
In an email to the Associated Press, Gibson’s attorney, Gabe Banks, stated that the actor was “fully cooperating with authorities to address and resolve this issue responsibly.” Banks added that Gibson was not home during the incident and quickly made the tough choice to ensure his own dog was in a secure environment.
The unfortunate event occurred shortly after 10 PM on September 18, when a neighbor, living half a mile away, let out his small spaniel. Five minutes later, he discovered that the dog had been attacked. Despite being rushed to a veterinary hospital, the dog did not survive, according to Dwyer.
Following this, four dogs were witnessed at a nearby property, prompting a call to the police by the owner, who expressed fears regarding the situation. An animal control officer intervened and managed to return the dog while the neighbor sought refuge in her vehicle.
A search warrant for Gibson’s property was issued on September 22, but neither he nor the dog were found at the location.
Banks conveyed Gibson’s “deepest sadness to the family that lost their cherished dog in this tragic event.”
On Monday, Gibson shared a video on Instagram featuring clips of his dog. Rather than speaking directly, he incorporated audio from a podcast episode of “The Breakfast Club,” in which the hosts discussed the incident.
