During Game 2 of the NBA Finals on Sunday, Tyrese Haliburton’s girlfriend seemed to have a tense moment with someone in the crowd. Jade Jones, who came to Oklahoma City to cheer on the Pacers guard, was seen on social media appearing to engage with Thunder fans at the Paycom Center.
In the video, Jones stands up and points at a Thunder fan in a blue t-shirt, though that specific fan wasn’t visible. She didn’t seem pleased, but the exact details of their exchange remain unclear.
As a former Iowa State cheerleader, Jones has been a supportive presence for Haliburton throughout the Pacers’ playoff journey, even taking on Knicks fans during the Eastern Conference Finals.
Interestingly, a couple of Iowa students they met during their time there ended up being celebrated together after six years, which is a nice sidelight to the game.
Interestingly, Jones sat out at Paycom Center after Haliburton’s thrilling last-second win in Game 1. Unfortunately for them, things didn’t pan out well on Sunday, as the Thunder defeated the Pacers, leveling the series 1-1.
Oklahoma City led the game with a strong 23-point advantage in the second quarter, showcasing their control. Haliburton ended with 17 points, three rebounds, and six assists in this game, while the NBA MVP, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, scored an impressive 34 points for the Thunder. His total of 72 points across the first two games of the Finals marks a new record, edging past Allen Iverson’s previous high of 71.
Now, the Finals will head to Indiana for Games 3 and 4 on Wednesday and Friday.
