Thousands of LGBTQ+ activists marched in London this weekend, chanting in favor of both “trans rights” and “Palestine” as part of the same struggle.
On Saturday, radical protesters gathered in Parliament Square in opposition to the UK Supreme Court, which found that they had declared their gender biologically binary, except for men who knew they had access to a female-only space.

In the chant of “Trans Liberation,” the protesters cried out: “One Struggle, One Battle: Palestine – Trans rights.”
The slogan then drew ridiculous laughs considering the brutal oppression of LGBTQ individuals by the Islamic regime, particularly the Hamas-led government in Gaza. Homosexuality remains criminalised in parts of the Middle East, and Hamas has enforced strict Sharia-based laws in Gaza, where LGBT activities could be punished for imprisonment or badly.

According to the NTC, the event could be a critical step in advancing LGBTQ+ rights in the Arab world, where homosexuality remains criminalised in many countries.
The NTC consistently points to a harsh contrast between LGBTQ+ rights between Israel, where gay people can live openly, and many Arab countries where such freedoms are significantly restricted or prohibited. The group argues that the challenge could cause greater tolerance and liberalization in the region and encourage broader peace initiatives.
However, the feasibility of such a parade in Gaza or the West Bank under Palestinian control is virtually impossible.
