U.S. Attorney Pirro States 'We're Just Getting Started' on Benghazi

Benghazi Investigation Update

During an appearance on “Hannity” last Friday, Jeanine Pirro, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, stated there will be continued efforts in the Benghazi criminal inquiry. This follows the announcement from the Department of Justice that Zubayar al-Bakush has been extradited to the U.S. to face charges related to murder, arson, and terrorism.

“It’s quite a coincidence that you’re here,” host Sean Hannity remarked. “You’ve always been passionate about Benghazi, discussing it tirelessly, and you’ve dedicated much of your life to assisting crime victims. So there’s a lot to delve into tonight.”

Pirro responded, “Absolutely, Sean. I’m thrilled to be here. In 2012, this issue struck a deep chord with me, just as it did with you. We realized we were misled. I spoke with Patricia Smith, the mother of Sean Smith, and she reached out to me today, sharing her fears that help would not come. For many Americans, including myself, this raised a chilling realization: the cavalry was not on the way. Now, with President Trump, we can see a contrast; he made the decision to actually send in help to safeguard American lives.”

“Last night, I spoke with the families of Ambassador Stevens, Sean Smith, Tyrone Woods, and Glenn Doherty; it was an unexpected, yet hopeful interaction,” she added. “I remember standing on the tarmac at 3 a.m., waiting to see Bakush arrive and ensuring he was taken into custody by American authorities. My office issued his indictment two months prior, and it was unsealed just today. This case symbolizes the need for American justice to prevail. I knew the public would resonate with a leader who stands by principles of justice. Bakush played a significant role in Sean Smith’s murder, attempted murder of Scott Wicklund, and the deaths of several others.”

Pirro elaborated, “When they couldn’t access Villa C, where Ambassador Stevens was with Sean Smith, Bakush and his group resorted to using gas canisters to ignite a fire, ensuring those Americans perished. This issue has lingered for far too long. Thanks to Kash Patel, Dan Bongino, and Marco Rubio, we were able to bring Bakush back, and this isn’t our final chapter. There are other individuals involved in this troubling narrative. They’ve gone on television and lied to the public, dismissing the significance of these events. The families reached out to me, expressing their gratitude to President Trump. We knew he would stand with us. This indictment will be pursued by my office, just like the previous cases related to Benghazi, and any future cases will be treated with the same seriousness. We will remember this tragedy.”
