U.S. responds strongly to Iran after Trump promised action for an attempted attack on U.S. troops

U.S. Forces Conduct Airstrikes Against Iran’s IRGC

U.S. forces have carried out a significant attack on Iran, responding to a previous unsuccessful attempt by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to target U.S. troops in the area, according to a statement from U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).

The airstrikes, which happened over a two-hour period starting at 8:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, targeted IRGC military installations and naval capabilities.

CENTCOM noted that “numerous IRGC targets were hit, including military command centers, missile and drone facilities, and maritime capabilities.”

The strikes were a direct reaction to an attempted surprise attack on U.S. forces, which involved ballistic missiles launched from Iran on Tuesday. CENTCOM stated all missiles were intercepted successfully.

Currently, over 50,000 U.S. service members are stationed across the Middle East, as reported by CENTCOM.

President Trump responded to the incident during an interview on Wednesday, expressing his determination to take strong action against Iran.

“We’re going to beat the f***ing sh** out of them,” he said. “We’ll be hitting them hard.”

In another development, both the U.S. and Saudi Arabia launched operations targeting terrorist sites in Eastern Iraq, following attacks against U.S. forces and Saudi energy infrastructure that were allegedly orchestrated by the IRGC.

Saudi Arabia is also dealing with threats from the Houthis in Yemen, who reportedly attacked two Saudi oil vessels in the Red Sea last week.

CENTCOM highlighted the role of Iranian proxies in these regional tensions.

“The latest strikes were aimed at reducing the threats from Iran and its proxies to U.S. forces and regional shipping,” stated CENTCOM.

In a related note, Egypt reported that a drone attack caused a fire affecting two gas vessels at the port of Damietta. However, no one has taken responsibility for this incident.

A British maritime security firm indicated that a drone strike impacted a U.S. tanker at the same port.
