The US government is set to examine the records of over 55 million visa holders to assess whether they are adhering to entry and stay conditions.
A spokesperson from the State Department mentioned that visa holders will be subjected to an ongoing review, according to reports from the Associated Press.
If any violations are discovered, such as involvement in criminal activities, threats to public safety, or support for terrorism, the visa will be revoked.
Authorities are also focusing on social media activity, seeking any hints of hostility towards American citizens, culture, or foundational principles of the government.
State Department officials have been instructed to identify individuals who may support designated foreign terrorists or engage in anti-Semitic harassment or violence.
“American interests shouldn’t be entrusted to those who underestimate the values of this country and foster anti-American ideologies,” stated Matthew Tragesser, a spokesperson for USCIS.
He added that USCIS is focused on “eradicating anti-Americanism” and advancing relevant policies.
This announcement follows Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s declaration to quickly halt the issuance of trucking service visas.
“As more foreign drivers operate large trucks on US roads, it’s putting American lives in danger and undermining the jobs of domestic truck drivers,” Rubio tweeted on Thursday.
It seems this new policy is now active, which suspends all commercial truck driver worker visas due to growing concerns about safety and job security for American drivers.
