UCLA Women’s Basketball Team Celebrated After Championship Win

After the UCLA women’s basketball team clinched the national championship, they were warmly welcomed back by enthusiastic fans at their campus in Westwood.

Returning from their victory against South Carolina in the NCAA Tournament final, the Bruins received a hero’s reception as their bus pulled into Pauley Pavilion on a Sunday evening.

Fans dressed in blue and gold erupted in cheers as players like Gabriella Jacques and Lauren Betts stepped out from their vehicles, proudly holding their trophies.

Supporters waved signs and cheered, even starting a chant of “Thank you, coach” directed toward Cori Close. In return, she expressed her gratitude to the crowd, enthusiastically blowing an air horn to celebrate the moment.

The celebration marked a significant achievement for the Bruins, as they secured their first NCAA championship with an impressive 79-51 win over the Gamecocks at the Mortgage Matchup Center.

Leading the team, Jaquez scored 21 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and dished out 5 assists. Betts contributed 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Gianna Neepkens added 15 points, all playing vital roles in this historic victory.

“It’s like a storybook ending, right?” Close remarked shortly after the victory. “That’s, according to the coach, the definition of greatness in the sport: the ability to be at your best when it matters most.” Maybe that feeling resonates with many—being able to see all the hard work pay off in such an extraordinary way.
