UConn destroys South Carolina by 29 points in major statement

COLOMBIA, S.C. — Azzi FUDD scored 28 points and No. 7 UCONN finished South Carolina's 71-game home victory, earning a 87-58 victory on Sunday.

Sarah Strong added 16 points and 13 rebounds to the Husky (24-3), who lost the last four points to the Gamecocks.

The Paige Bueckers scored 12 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds as UConn gained control late in the opening quarter, gaining 22 points at halftime.

Characteristically, defending champion South Carolina has responded for the first time at home since North Carolina defeated Gamecocks 54-46 on December 3, 2020.

It concluded the fourth-longest home winning streak in women's Division I basketball history.

FUDD tracked a career-high 34-point performance that won St. John's by torching Gamecocks this Wednesday.

She had six of UConn's 13 three-pointers, including four for the third quarter, to close South Carolina's hopes.
