UFC star Bryce Mitchell enters 6-month, self-imposed ‘concussion protocol’ after brutal knockout

UFC star Bryce Mitchell will not participate in contact training for the next several months as he continues to recover from a devastating knockout.

Mitchell suffered a brutal knockout loss to Josh Emmett on December 12th. The knockout became a hot topic on the internet, due in part to the brutality of Emmett's right hand.

Shortly after Mitchell fell to the ground, his body went into convulsions. The featherweight was eventually able to regain consciousness, but needed help getting out of the Octagon. Mitchell now says he will take at least six months off from training.

“I'm following my own concussion protocol,” Mitchell told ESPN. “I'm going to talk to my coach, but basically I'm just going to say, 'Please don't spar for six months.'” [build a new house] and [expecting my first child], But after that, I will go to the next training camp immediately. Mitchell only agreed to the match after Emmett's original opponent, Giga Chikadze, was forced to withdraw due to injury. He revealed that he sometimes has seizures while resting.

Mitchell said that aside from the physical pain, the worst part of the ordeal was that it upset her loved ones.

“The worst part was how everyone treated me afterwards, because everyone thought I was dead,” Mitchell said.

“Everyone I knew was crying. On the bright side, that was the easiest game for me. I've never come out of a game feeling so good. I just woke up in the ambulance and I was like, 'What? “I don't remember much of what happened.'' “I didn't feel any pain. I'll tell you, everyone was crying and they thought I was dead. I'm not exaggerating.''
