Sen. Graham Discusses Peace Efforts Between Russia and Ukraine
On Monday, during an appearance on FNC’s “Hannity,” Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) talked about President Donald Trump’s initiatives to facilitate peace between Russia and Ukraine.
Graham mentioned that Ukraine might need to accept certain territorial concessions to Russia.
“Putin is,” host Sean Hannity remarked, referring to him as a “murderous dictator.” He added, “I’m not particularly impressed with how Zelensky has managed everything. Yes, the Ukrainians have displayed incredible bravery, but at this stage in the conflict, it’s hard to imagine what most people thought would happen. A salute to all Ukrainians for their courage, but it appears we’re nearing a situation where Zelensky must negotiate land exchanges and security assurances. How do you see this playing out? Again, it’s not about what I want, but what seems likely to occur.”
“I agree,” Graham responded. “The reality is Ukraine can’t completely drive the Russian forces out of its territory. They’ve fought valiantly and stifled Russian advances. Zelensky has shown strong leadership during wartime, but the real credit belongs to the Ukrainian people. His leadership played a crucial role, particularly in preventing Russia from capturing Kiev. They unified effectively.”
“Without security guarantees, the war won’t end,” he continued. “Our primary goal is to prevent a third invasion. If America sends a message to the world, including Russia and Ukraine, that any further conflict in Ukraine will lead to a united European response, then we can avoid more escalation. If a third invasion occurs, the U.S. will be reluctant to intervene, similar to the situation in Taiwan.”
