Ukraine-Russia War ‘Will End Sooner’ Under the Trump Admin

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has expressed hope that the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine will “end sooner” under President-elect Donald Trump's administration.

in interview In an interview with Ukrainian media company Suspirin, Zelensky admitted that although there is “no exact date” when the war will end, he feels it will “end” because of the “policies” of the incoming Trump administration.

Zelenskiy also noted the importance of Ukraine “doing everything to end the war next year” through diplomacy.

“No one wants peace more than we do,” Zelenskiy said in an interview. “The change in U.S. policy suggests, in my opinion, that the war will end.”

Zelenskiy added that he did not know “how the war would end” but the task was “to protect strong positions.”

“A just peace is important for us so that there is no feeling that we have lost the best because of the injustices inflicted on us,” Zelenskiy continued. “I think that's where the war will end. And not in the abstract. There's no exact date, but with the direction of the team currently leading the White House, the war will end sooner.”

As Breitbart News previously reported, Zelensky's words echo Trump's earlier statement in an interview on the X show that as president-elect he would like to end the Russia-Ukraine war.

I want Russia to reconcile with Ukraine and stop this. Millions more people have been killed than you are reading about. But I want to get it done before I take office, I want to get it done as the next president, because it has to be resolved — too many people have died, too many cities are now in rubble. It has turned into a Culture is being destroyed. It has to be done, and I'll get it done. There would have been no October 7th, there would have been no Russian attack on Ukraine, there would have been no inflation. All this inflation is hurting people badly. There would have been no such horrific withdrawal – we were coming out of Afghanistan with dignity and strength – and it was the most embarrassing moment in our nation's history. And frankly, without it Russia would never have entered Ukraine. They look at it and say, “This country is no longer run by Trump. This country is run by stupid people.”

Zelenskiy said in an interview that he believes Russian President Vladimir Putin “doesn't want peace,” but added that “that doesn't mean he doesn't want to sit at the negotiating table with one of the leaders.” .

Zelenskiy added: “For him, this is the destruction of political isolation.” “It would be helpful for him to sit down and talk. And not negotiate — that's what I would say.”
