Undefeated Boxer Georgia O’Connor Passes Away
Georgia O’Connor, a rising British boxing star, has died just a few months after being diagnosed with cancer and merely three weeks following her marriage.
On May 9th, O’Connor celebrated her wedding on Instagram, sharing, “The day I married the love of my life.”
Boxxer, her promotion team, expressed their sorrow over the loss of such a talented fighter. They described her as “a true warrior inside and outside the ring,” noting how swiftly the boxing community lost someone so brave and determined.
O’Connor’s cancer diagnosis was made public in January. She claimed that her condition was not taken seriously by doctors, who dismissed her pain and concerns initially.
“They just told me it was all in my head and made me feel like I was exaggerating. They wouldn’t even consider scans or any further investigation,” she shared. “They really could have done something sooner, but that’s just how the NHS is.”
Earlier this year, O’Connor also experienced a miscarriage.
Throughout her boxing career, O’Connor achieved notable success, including a gold medal at the 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games and securing a bronze medal at the 2018 Youth World Championship after a strong showing in 2017.
