Bill Belichick’s connection with Jordon Hudson has drawn some attention to the North Carolina football program, but players insist they aren’t fazed by the buzz.
“Sure, social media can spread stories, but honestly, it hasn’t been a distraction for us,” UNC receiver Jordan Ship mentioned at the ACC Media Day in Charlotte. “We’ve never really seen her around the facility, so it wasn’t an issue.”
He went on to share that he often had breakfast with the wife of former UNC head coach Mack Brown, suggesting that Belichick is just another figure in their support system.
“I think it actually helps to know someone is in our corner,” Ship added.
Other players echoed this feeling of solidarity. Quarterback Geo Lopez commented, “I scroll through my phone and see news about Coach Belichick, but it’s not something that weighs on my mind. He carries himself like an ordinary guy, just focused on his work.”
Belichick, meanwhile, has been at the center of this media focus, while Hudson referred to the surrounding discussions as just “noise.”
Players noted that this isn’t overly concerning, even referencing a moment in April when Hudson interrupted Belichick during a CBS interview about their relationship.
As the team prepares for its season opener against TCU on September 1, the players emphasize their unwavering support for their coach. “We’re all in with Coach B, regardless of what’s happening,” Ship reassured. “It hasn’t distracted us or caused any issues.”
