Uncle of victim criticizes mother who aided son's escape after fatal NJ crash

The family of a teenager who lost his life in a tragic accident in New Jersey has accused the driver and his friend of abandoning him.

Parim Murati, the grieving uncle of 19-year-old Albion Hysenaj, shared his feelings on social media regarding Vilma Vneshta’s involvement in the incident.

“People say, ‘It’s a mother’s love,’ but how is my sister doing right now?” Murati, 41, asked about Hysenaj’s mother, who is a single parent.

“People often compare and think all mothers would do the same for their kids, but they really don’t know what it’s like for my sister, who has lost her child.”

Officials have reported that Vneshta, 42, along with 20-year-old Alvi Limani, was attempting to escape to Florida after the crash on the Garden State Parkway on June 29.

According to the New Jersey State Police, the pair was apprehended in Miami on July 17 and returned to New Jersey last week.

Vneshta is facing charges related to her actions during the incident.

“I believe she deserves time. She needs to face the consequences,” Murati stated. “She shouldn’t be allowed to roam freely. What if she thought about what had happened to my sister, who is a mother too?”

Messages sent to Vneshta’s lawyers were not answered on Tuesday.

Murati expressed frustration towards Limani as well, who is facing multiple charges, including aggravated manslaughter. He reportedly crashed into two vehicles, rolled over the BMW, and thrown Hysenaj and another passenger from the car.

“How can you leave your friend behind? What if you could have saved him?” Murati questioned. “If you had just given a little help, what might have changed?”

Hysenaj was a recent high school graduate from Staten Island who had a passion for video games and aspired to be an entrepreneur. His uncle noted how his mother supported his ambitions, helping him build and repair PCs.

“My nephew was a kind and loving person,” Murati reflected.

“He truly brightened up any room he entered. He was always looking out for others.”

Nineteen-year-old Emily Harrington, a Staten Island resident, also faces charges related to leaving the scene of the crash with Limani. Other drivers involved in the tragic incident are facing charges for vehicular homicide and related offenses.
