Uncommon interaction between Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald and his wife captured on video after the Super Bowl

Emotional Postgame Moment for Seahawks Coach

After claiming their second Super Bowl title in 12 years with a 29-13 win against the Patriots in Santa Clara, California, Seattle Seahawks coach Mike McDonald and his wife Stephanie shared a touching moment on the field.

Following the game, which took place on Sunday, they were mic’d up at Levi’s Stadium and celebrated alongside their two-year-old son, Jack, as seen in a video released by the NFL.

“So, how was your day?” Stephanie asked, laughing as she caught her husband’s attention.

“It’s unbelievable. It’s really amazing,” McDonald responded, seemingly in awe.

Stephanie, who has a background as an NFL cheerleader, expressed her pride, saying, “It’s unbelievable. You did it. I’m so proud of you.”

Their coach added, “You know what? We didn’t care.” It’s a sentiment many can relate to in those big moments.

McDonald then turned to Jack, telling him, “One day you’ll really love this day.” A heartfelt moment for a family celebrating a significant achievement together.

For context, Stephanie spent eight years as a cheerleader with the Tennessee Titans, Baltimore Ravens, and Washington Commanders. Their paths first crossed back in 2014 when Mike was a defensive assistant for the Ravens and Stephanie was cheering for the team.

At just 38, McDonald became the third-youngest head coach to secure a Super Bowl victory. Interestingly, he had previously flown under the radar, being one of the lesser-known coaches in the league. Now, however, he proudly holds the Lombardi Trophy.

Reflecting on their journey, McDonald mentioned, “Here in Seattle, we use the term ‘chasing the edge.’ That’s how you have to live. You can’t imitate other people. We want to be at the forefront of things. We know that — we know we’re target No. 1 now.”

In the midst of their triumph, McDonald acknowledged the challenges they’ve faced, saying, “There are times when you feel like your team is beating you up, and we have to move and wobble. That’s happened several times throughout this season, and that’s just the way we are.”

The Seahawks brought in McDonald in January 2024, taking over from longtime coach Pete Carroll. As they celebrate this victory, it’s clear that this is just the beginning of what he hopes will be a bright future for the team.
