Under the Constitution there is no substitute for Congress

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) fundamentally misunderstands the constitution with his remarks about the Trump administration's efforts to cut federal spending without involvement in Congress.

Johnson suggests that because the president is the commander of the military chief, he has the one-sided authority to make drastic budget cuts and eliminate the entire federal agency created by Congress.

Johnson I said“The assumption is that the Commander in Chief will be a good custodian of the taxpayer dollar,” the title is limited to the President's role in armed services, and Presidential Command for Federal Expenses. It suggests to advise. The Constitution does not say that.

Article 2, Section 2 Constitutional Law “The President has said he is the chief of the US Army and Navy and commander of militias in several states. He does not say that the President is the commander of the entire federal government.

Even if that is the case, it does not give the President the authority to withhold funds approved by Congress. The Constitution concessions the sole power of Congress over federal spending, determining both the amount and allocation of funds. Article 1, Section 9, situation: “You should not withdraw money from the Ministry of Finance, but as a result of the legal budget.”

This applies to the US military regardless of the position of the President's commander-in-chief, or any other federal fund. This means that only Congress can cancel expenses that have already approved or excluded from the government department they have created.

Johnson also said that because Congress is not doing well with its budgeting duties, it is legally established in itself that unelected individuals who are not working for so-called government efficiency will take over this job. It suggested that it was not.

Johnson I said: “What Elon and Dozi's efforts are doing now is something Congress hasn't been able to do in recent years because government agencies are hiding some of this from us.”

Again, the Constitution does not say that. It doesn't even suggest that if Congress' wrong spending fails to balance the budget, an unelected “backup team” could step in and take over. Alternate Quarterback.

Neither Trump nor the elected Musk can replace the first part of the government (the legislative division) with a team of selected technical workers simply because they don't like the work that Congress is doing. The federal government and its budgets can be used by billionaires to grasp and bend their will, not home improvement projects, soccer teams, or social media companies.

As Benjamin Franklin said, we live in the Republic. The surest way to lose it is to have a small number of rich and powerful citizens playgrounds by empowering governments that belong to all of us, citizens of the United States, our money and programs they are not. It's a qualified person to pretend to be able to become.

It is ironic to cite the chairman – the leader of the legislative department – citing that he has given up the power of his wallet and is unable to exercise it, and that he is unable to convey the truth to the administrative department.

Instead of abstaining from this authority, Johnson and all members of Congress gather across party boundaries to find the facts and continue the pursuit of a more complete union on behalf of all Americans. We should regain the power of
