‘Underdog’ Biden still has time to turn campaign around before the election, Democrat strategists say

Democratic strategists told Fox News Digital that President Joe Biden still has time to rebuild his campaign and avoid being booted as the nominee, despite the damage done in the two weeks since the first presidential debate.

Biden has faced growing calls to step down as the Democratic nominee following his performance in the first presidential debate, but election strategists say he has not done irreparable damage to his reelection effort.

“The president has made it very clear that he is the elected nominee and he’s not going to change that position unless God himself intervenes,” Democratic strategist Mark Penn told Fox News Digital when asked about the current state of Biden’s campaign.

“At the moment, Donald Trump has a clear lead, but it’s nowhere near double digits. This puts the race within reach of a few percent of voters switching to change the outcome, and as events like the debates show, it could very well be a game changer.”

“While Biden is now behind overall, this race is not over yet,” Penn added.

Jessica Tarlov, a Fox News contributor and Democratic political strategist, also said Biden has plenty of time to rebuild his campaign before November.

Democratic insider acknowledges concerns about Biden at June concert: ‘He seemed different’

“Is there enough time? Absolutely. Four months is a lifetime in politics. The election is about Trump – who supports him and who doesn’t. I’m not saying Biden has any ground to redeem, but Trump remains very unpopular and polarizing through all of his issues as a president,” Tarlov said.

Tarlov noted that Democrats need to come together to ensure victory in the November elections.

“No matter what happens, Democrats must come together in a common goal, which is to defeat Trump,” she told Fox Digital. “If we do that, we can win, 100 percent.”

Another Democratic strategist said upsets happen all the time in politics and Biden’s was no exception.

“The political world is full of comebacks, but to make a comeback like Witt’s, they all had to run. The list of comebacks is long, but if anyone can make a comeback, it’s President Biden,” strategist Ted Trimpa told Fox.

Biden has said multiple times that he has no plans to withdraw from the race, but he continues to face pressure from within his party to consider withdrawing from the 2024 race.
