Undocumented immigrant taken into custody linked to recent stabbing in North Carolina.

Court records indicate that a man accused of fatally stabbing someone on a streetcar in Charlotte, North Carolina, is a previously deported immigrant. Oscar Solrazano, aged 33, was taken into custody following the incident on Friday and has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, among other offenses, according to an arrest warrant.

A Mecklenburg County release order stated that no bond was set for Solrazano due to his immigration status. While documents indicate he requires a Spanish interpreter, details regarding his country of origin remain undisclosed.

Earlier in the day, around 4:49 p.m., officers from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival, they found the victim, identified as Kenyon Kareem-Shemar Doby, with serious stab wounds. He was reported to be in serious but stable condition when transported to the hospital.

Prior to the stabbing, Solrazano is alleged to have entered the streetcar with the intent to commit a felony, armed with a large knife. Witnesses noted that he appeared intoxicated and began shouting incoherently, challenging Doby to a fight.

Although CMPD has not confirmed any previous criminal record for Solrazano, court filings revealed that he has used several aliases. He is scheduled for a court appearance on December 8, after which he will be turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

This incident occurred months after the tragic stabbing of Ukrainian refugee Irina Zalutka, who was killed on a light rail train while returning home from work. In that case, DeCarlos Brown Jr. faces charges that could lead to the death penalty.

In response to the rising violence, former President Trump commented on the situation on social media, criticizing local governance. He expressed concern about the implications of immigration policy in Charlotte, questioning the safety of its residents.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy also criticized Charlotte’s leadership, pressing for immediate action to address public safety and the management of violent offenders.

As the investigation unfolds, requests for further comments from various agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security, remain unanswered.
