Recently released video captures a chaotic scene in California, where several undocumented immigrants attempted to evade federal immigration agents at a construction site. The footage shows two individuals urgently scaling a ladder to access the roof of a home in Montebello, a city situated in Los Angeles County, just moments after law enforcement arrived outside.
In a desperate move, one of the men tried to tip the ladder over to hinder the agents’ pursuit. However, officers quickly intervened, stabilizing the ladder against the house. Ultimately, the individuals managed to separate and escape by jumping onto adjacent rooftops.
A spokesperson from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed to Fox News Digital that this incident took place during a U.S. Border Patrol operation in the Montebello area.
The DHS later reported that five undocumented immigrants from Mexico and Guatemala were arrested in conjunction with this operation. The spokesperson stated, “These individuals violated this country’s immigration laws and will remain in detention as their immigration processes unfold.”
Initially, local media reported that the workers’ employers denied any detentions had occurred. However, DHS clarified that the five arrests were indeed part of the immigration action.
This enforcement effort aligns with the broader initiatives from the Trump administration to address illegal immigration, coinciding with moves by the White House to implement what officials describe as the largest deportation policy in U.S. history—an action that has prompted significant criticism, particularly from sanctuary cities and Democratic-led areas.
