Over the weekend, a beachgoer in Florida stumbled upon something unusual while enjoying a sunny day at the shore. The Walton County Sheriff’s Office reported that 25 mysterious black packages—each decorated with the cartoon character Yosemite Sam—washed ashore at Panhandle Beach.
Inside these packages was an astonishing amount of cocaine valued at around $500,000.
The sheriff’s office took to social media, urging anyone who might find such packages on the beach to report them immediately, advising against touch anything suspicious due to potential dangers. The exact origin of these drug bundles remains unclear.
This event mirrors a recent incident just a few days prior when a beach in Alabama found a significant package containing 150 pounds of cocaine. Local authorities received reports of suspicious luggage on the Fort Morgan Peninsula, leading to the discovery of 50 kilos within that package.
The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office remarked that it isn’t unusual for more illegal items to appear along the coastline and cautioned the public against investigating suspicious packages due to harmful substances they might contain.
