Unidentified Drones Over Louisiana Air Force Base Lead to Investigation

Drone Sightings Near Military Base Prompt Actions

This month, several unauthorized drones were spotted in the vicinity of the US Air Force Base in Bossier Parish, Louisiana, leading to a temporary shelter-in-place order.

The situation unfolded after the US military initiated Operation Epic Fury aimed at curbing Iran’s nuclear ambitions, which heightened security measures at various air bases nationwide. A spokesperson from Barksdale Air Force Base confirmed that multiple unauthorized drones entered the airspace during the week of March 9. “Flying drones over military facilities is a significant safety concern and constitutes a federal offense,” they noted.

Authorities are actively investigating these sightings. The spokesperson emphasized, “The safety of the facility and the public is our highest priority. We will keep a vigilant watch over our airspace.”

As reported, Barksdale Air Force Base spans around 22,000 acres with roughly 15,000 residents and is home to B-52 bombers that can carry nuclear weapons.

A confidential briefing indicated that the drones appeared in waves, seemingly trying to evade detection. According to ABC 13, “Between March 9 and 15, security forces noticed multiple waves of 12 to 15 drones navigating over sensitive areas of the base, including flight lines. These drones demonstrated non-commercial signals, long-range control, and showed resistance to jamming.” The operations lasted about four hours daily, employing varied approach paths and strategic maneuvers within restricted airspace.

Mick Mulroy, a former deputy assistant secretary of defense, suggested that this situation seems more intentional than just someone flying drones for fun. “It looked like it was done deliberately to see how they would respond,” he remarked.

Still, there’s no confirmed link between these drone activities and the tensions with Iran, as further detailed by WRBL. Notably, prior to this incident, Barksdale had reminded the public that its airspace is strictly a no-drone zone.

Meanwhile, Breitbart News highlighted that Iran reportedly attempted to launch a ballistic missile targeting Diego Garcia, a strategic base in the Indian Ocean.
