On the last night of Jeffrey Epstein’s life, an unusual orange shape appeared in surveillance footage near his prison. Forensic experts are questioning the official explanation provided by federal agents regarding these strange objects.
The shadowy figure seen in the video climbs the stairs to Epstein’s cell block at Metropolitan Correctional Center at about 10:40 PM, shortly before the 66-year-old convicted sex trafficker was found hanging. While federal agents claimed the blurry shape was an officer moving linens or inmate clothing, some forensic analysts suggest it might instead be jumpsuits worn by prisoners.
“Based on this limited footage, it likely indicates [orange] uniforms,” said retired NYPD Sergeant and forensic video expert Conor McCourt during a CBS investigation.
Epstein was found dead in his cell on August 10, 2019, and the official autopsy concluded he died by suicide. Despite this conclusion, some forensic experts believe the Department of Justice’s official investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death has significant shortcomings.
The FBI reported that cameras captured individuals entering or exiting the area where Epstein was held, but an analysis showed that the video quality made the stairs nearly invisible. Additionally, the direct entrance to Epstein’s cell wasn’t within the camera’s view.
“To claim that no one could access it, the stairs are definitely misleading when attempting to reach his room,” stated video forensic expert Jim Safford, a sentiment echoed by several other specialists.
Moreover, the footage appears to be a screen recording rather than live. Reports indicate that the cursor and menu are visible, and the video feed jumps a full minute right before midnight, with sudden changes in aspect ratio.
In response to theories raised, the inspector’s office maintained that it had not altered its conclusions regarding Epstein’s death based on the recent forensic analysis.
“We conducted a thorough assessment over the days and weeks surrounding Epstein’s death, noting the long-term staffing crisis at the Bureau of Prisons, which impacted camera coverage quality within the facility,” the office stated.
The ongoing outrage regarding Epstein’s death intensified earlier this month when the DOJ confirmed there was no evidence to support claims of foul play in his incarceration.
The Justice Department and FBI also announced through their investigation that Epstein’s so-called “client list” didn’t implicate anyone else. Following this, President Trump encouraged the public to stop wasting “time and energy” on untrustworthy financiers.
Recently, U.S. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche met with Ghislaine Maxwell for two days regarding her involvement with Epstein while she is currently serving a 20-year sentence for conspiracy.
