United Airlines announced Tuesday that it will increase flights to Chicago and Milwaukee as the Democratic and Republican National Conventions approach.
Airlines Said This will increase flight options and make travel easier for “convention-goers and political enthusiasts.”
United Airlines has announced that it will increase its flight numbers by more than 75%, or 72 flights, in the run up to the Republican National Committee (RNC) convention.
The airline also added new nonstop service between Milwaukee and Washington, D.C., as well as new flights from other major hubs including Denver, New York and Chicago.
The airline announced it would serve Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport with its largest schedule since 2019 and increase the number of flights between Washington and Chicago by 40% ahead of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) convention.
The Republican National Convention begins in Milwaukee on July 15th.
Former President Trump said he plans to be nominated as the Republican Party’s official candidate for the 2024 presidential election at the convention and would announce his running mate during the convention.
The New York judge overseeing President Trump’s hush money criminal trial has set the sentence for July 11, just days before Trump is due to appear in court in Milwaukee.
The Democratic National Convention begins in Chicago on August 19th.
President Biden and Vice President Harris are expected to secure the Democratic Party’s official presidential nomination.
“These conventions are rooted in tradition and have evolved into a week-long celebration of the political process,” Patrick Quayle, United Airlines’ senior vice president of global network planning and alliances, said in a statement. “We’re proud to be visiting two great cities, participating in these historic events and providing even more options for people to make their voices heard.”
