Cajun Navy Denies Claims About Nolan Wells’ Body

The United Cajun Navy has stated it has not communicated with Nolan Wells’ family attorney, Ben Crump, despite his assertion that the organization provided significant information regarding the circumstances of Wells’ body discovery.

The search group took to social media to refute comments made by Crump during a Wednesday press conference. Crump claimed that the Cajun Navy informed him Wells was “fully clothed” when his body was found two days after he went missing on Horn Island, located off Mississippi’s coast.

“The Cajun Combined Navy is very aggressive,” Crump remarked, adding that they mentioned Wells was found face down and clothed. However, the Cajun Navy responded by asserting that Crump was “lying” and clarified that they had not communicated with him or shared any information with Wells’ family.

In their statement, the Cajun Navy said, “We have never spoken to Mr. Crump, and we never told his parents,” disputing Crump’s account.

Crump indicated that the clothing Wells was wearing at the time of his body’s recovery on July 6 might provide insight into the events leading up to his death, following a Fourth of July boating outing with friends.

A video recorded shortly before Wells’ disappearance showed him only in swim trunks. “This is crucial for us because, in the last video, he wasn’t wearing a shirt,” said Crump. “So when did he put it on? Someone knows something.”

The 18-year-old Mississippi State college football player’s body was located by a disaster relief group whose pilot spotted it from the air. Crump’s remarks regarding Wells’ clothing came two days after Cajun Navy founder Todd Terrell inadvertently confirmed on “The Nancy Grace Show” that Wells was found dressed.

Terrell later corrected himself, explaining he meant Wells was only in swim trunks and acknowledged the need for clarity. The group reiterated Terrell’s clarification in a subsequent social media post, asserting that “Nolan was wearing nothing but swimming trunks when he was found. This is an irrefutable fact.”

As for Crump, he had not responded to requests for comments by the time this article was prepared.
