As Disney continues its spiral of declining revenue and fan dissatisfaction, Universal plans a major expansion of its Florida theme park, but in at least one case it appears the company is being forced to wake up.
The studio’s new “Universal Epic Universe” park in Orlando, Florida, offers park goers an “immersive” experience with more than 50 awe-inspiring attractions, entertainment, dining and shopping experiences. One aspect of the park expansion is the new take on famous Universal Monsters characters from the 1930s and 40s, including Dracula, Frankenstein, and the Werewolf.
The entertainment giant is apparently reviving the “Dark Universe” moniker with this part of the park’s expansion. Dark Universe was the studio’s proposed name for a return to monsters, as it was planning a series of films that would remake and reimagine classic black-and-white monster movies.
But when Tom Cruise remakes it, mummy The studio quickly scrapped plans for Dark Universe after 2017 box office sales were so disappointing. But now it looks like the company is making a name for itself again with a new “immersive world” coming to Universal’s Epic Universe Park in Orlando in 2025.
Concept art for some of the characters in “Dark Universe” is an old classic of Frankenstein’s monster and the werewolf. Apparently there is also a Dracula version available. But based on his conceptual art, this new version of Dracula is dressed more like a superhero than Belargosi’s mysterious, gentle Transylvanian count.

The Dark Universe section is proposed to be an attraction where “guests will encounter everything from Dr. Victoria Frankenstein’s experiments to a shadowy landscape teeming with monsters in a world of myth and mystery.” The park’s advance publicity claims.

Universal, of course, can smell blood in the water as hyper-woke Disney’s financial and political woes worsen every other month.
A report in July said Florida experienced an “incredible” drop in attendance at Disney parks last year. But that wasn’t the only loss that befell the Mouse House.
The damage done to Disney by the indefensible constant need to raise children for radical gay policies is not just a “right-wing story.” The backlash that Disney has received is very real and deserved, and is reflected in everything Disney produces, including its stock price (the decline in its stock price). more than half (from 2021 onwards). Disney’s decline came suddenly, especially in movie theaters, as evidenced by the number of failures and the loss of its streaming service.
So, with Disney in a bind with no obvious way out–at least no obvious path that woke Disney can think of–Universal is ready to pounce on families disgruntled with its rivals. There is.
