University of Kentucky Cheerleader Faces Legal Trouble
Laiken Snelling, a 21-year-old cheerleader at the University of Kentucky, made headlines recently after she dressed as a pregnant woman for Halloween last year.
For her costume, she wore a fake pregnant belly adorned with a “Kentucky Mama” pin, and photos have surfaced online showing her happily posing with her outfit.
Originally shared by her school’s stunt team, the photo has since been taken down, particularly after Snelling’s arrest on August 31.
Authorities discovered the body of a newborn boy concealed in a garbage bag within a closet in a residence off-campus in Lexington.
The autopsy report has not definitively determined the cause of death for the baby.
Interestingly, Snelling had previously mentioned in a social media post that one of her life goals was to be a mother. She reportedly confessed to law enforcement that she had given birth.
She is claimed to have told investigators that she disposed of the evidence from her birth together with the infant in the same black garbage bag.
It remains unclear how far along she was in her pregnancy at the time of the baby’s delivery. Recently, footage of her participating in cheerleading stunts with her team circulated on social media.
There are still unanswered questions regarding who initially alerted authorities about the infant’s death and the identity of the child’s father.
Snelling’s ex-boyfriend, Izaiah Hall, provided a DNA sample to determine if he is the father, as confirmed by his father.
Prior to her arrest, Snelling had been seen with her current boyfriend, Connor Jordan, in various posts on social media.
She faces several charges including abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence, and concealing a birth. Snelling pleaded not guilty to these allegations.
Following her release from prison on a $100,000 bond, she has been ordered to stay at her parents’ home in Tennessee. A court appearance is scheduled for September 26.
