One person was in danger after being stabbed near the University of Virginia (UVA) campus on Thursday, prompting shelter and numerous emergency warnings.
The victim, who has not yet been identified, was stabbed into a school building on the edge of the property and taken to UVA Medical Center for treatment, Kyle Irvin, a spokesman for the Charlottesville Police Department, told Fox News Digital.
Irvin could not confirm whether the sole victim had one or more stab wounds.
UVA's Department of Security issued an emergency warning on the university's website and social media around 4:50pm, warning students of “active attackers” with a knife near Emmett Street.
Police warned students to evacuate and “hides the fight.”
Before 5:30pm, authorities updated their explanations. The suspect pointed out that he was a middle-aged white man wearing a white shirt, blue pants and white shoes.
Just before 5:50pm, police said the incident was “stable” and the suspect was taken into custody.
The designated shelter was then lifted.
While most details have been released, Irvin said, “The priority for these officers is that they can put this case into work.”
This is the second time the school campus has been ordered to evacuate this week.
Classes have been cancelled and campus was locked down on Tuesday. Fox News Digital has contacted UVA for more information.
