Update on Arch Manning's injury before the Vanderbilt game

Arch Manning Set to Return Against Vanderbilt

It looks like Arch Manning will be back on the field this week during the SEC matchup.

After facing concussion concerns last week, Manning has been cleared and is anticipated to start against No. 9 Vanderbilt on Saturday, according to reports.

This update comes after he entered concussion protocol following Texas’ close 45-38 victory over Mississippi State.

The 21-year-old quarterback took a hard hit during the first play of overtime, colliding with two defenders and landing on the turf.

In the aftermath, he stayed on the field while team officials assessed his condition before being taken to a medical tent.

While Manning was sidelined, senior quarterback Matthew Caldwell led the Longhorns to victory, allowing Manning to watch from the sidelines.

Caldwell’s overtime touchdown sealed the win for Texas, with head coach Steve Sarkisian commenting on the strong bond between Caldwell and Manning, highlighting how it played a crucial role in that moment.

Before he left the game, Manning had impressive stats: he completed 29 of 46 passes, accounted for three passing touchdowns, had a rushing score, and even set a career-high with 346 passing yards.

Texas showcased resilience, scoring 17 unanswered points after trailing by three possessions in the fourth quarter, ultimately pushing the game into overtime.

Reflecting on the team’s journey, Sarkisian remarked, “Once a year you have a cultural win… I think we were able to take the mulligan because this was our cultural win.” He expressed great pride in his team, emphasizing that their toughness was possibly the best in the program’s history.
