Tragic Discovery in South Carolina
A personal trainer from South Carolina was found dead in the woods under mysterious circumstances. Her husband’s friend mentioned that she kept her marriage quite “private,” although there may have been underlying issues between the couple.
Brannon Slice’s friend, private investigator Henry Dukes, expressed that Slice was deeply saddened by the shocking loss of Elena Katherine Moore. Her body was found on June 17, shortly after she was last seen leaving Lexington Planet Fitness.
Dukes explained, “He and Ms. Moore had a long-term relationship; he planned to spend his life with her.” Elena, 39, was reported missing on June 12, following her last appearance at the gym and her subsequent movement toward a wooded area behind a Lowe’s hardware store, according to Slice. He himself is not considered a suspect.
The body was located on June 17 near Lakeside Middle School, approximately two miles from the gym.
Slice described his wife’s disappearance as “very outrageous.” Dukes did not entirely dismiss claims of marital strife, which have been suggested by friends of Moore.
“I’m not denying that something might have happened,” he remarked, “but it’s a private matter. If someone’s life had been at risk, it would have come to light sooner, I think.”
Moore’s friend Sondra Campbell indicated that Elena seemed “completely different” the last time they met on May 31. Campbell suggested that Moore had fears for her safety, stating she “was literally in fear for her life.”
When pressed on the reasons for her fear, Moore responded, “I can’t talk about it right now. There are too many people around,” adding that they needed to speak one-on-one.
Campbell also mentioned troubling signs in Moore’s marriage, suggesting that there were “red flags” that could imply possible criminal activity surrounding her disappearance.
However, Dukes noted that Campbell had not been interviewed by law enforcement, implying that her friendship with Moore may not hold as much relevance as she believes.
“If she was such a close friend, the police would have spoken to her by now,” he stated, implying that Campbell lacked concrete information on the case.
In the days leading up to her disappearance, neighbors reported seeing Moore acting “disoriented” and noted two unusual interactions.
A preliminary autopsy revealed no clear cause of death for Moore.
