Republicans in the Senate have unveiled a plan for their updated budget.

On Wednesday, Senate Republicans presented a fresh budget blueprint while also making President Donald Trump’s tax cuts from 2017 a permanent fixture.
They are looking to finalize this plan shortly to direct the committee to pursue a significant bill that encompasses Trump’s agenda on taxation, immigration funds, and various priorities. By utilizing the budget “reconciliation” process, Senate Republicans can bypass the 60 vote requirement in a chamber with a majority ratio of 53-47, thereby excluding Democrats from the deliberations.
Republicans are implementing a contentious new accounting approach termed “current policy baseline” to justify the cost of extending Trump’s tax cuts as $0. Democrats have criticized this as “magic math” while exploring ways to contest this method.
The GOP’s budget resolution for the Senate also suggests a $5 trillion increase in debt limits.
Donald Trump has endorsed the proposal.
